Supporting Transition

Moving up to high school can be an exciting time but it can also be difficult for some young people. Being prepared for the changes you face in the transition to a new school can help you to feel more relaxed and ready for the challenges ahead.

The activities on this page will help you deal with any worries you have and show you how to cope when you are nervous about changes. You can also learn how to bounce back from difficult times - this is called resilience.

This session is designed for you to work through alone or with adult support. It can help explore some of the potential worries you may have and think about how these could be managed. There are examples of some practical skills and activities that may help. You can try these activities together.

Watch the video and use the downloadable resources to complete the activities. It is helpful to remember that the activities will have more effect if they are not rushed.
