Working & Learning

Young people in Norfolk and Waveney are supported to stay in education or training until they are 18 years old. This means that education and training is free for 16 to 19-year-olds.

When you leave school at age 16, you can get help to do one of the following:

  • Stay in full-time education, for example at a college
  • Start an apprenticeship
  • Spend 20 hours or more a week working or volunteering, while in part-time education or training

If you are a young person with Special Educational Needs and Disability aged 16 to 25, you can get extra support to help with your learning. You will not have to pay for this extra support.

Talk to your college or training provider about any special educational needs and disabilities you have.
